Milky Way Transformer Supports Successful Ignition of Xinyi Glass Indonesia Float Glass Project

Milky Way Transformer Co., Ltd. (formerly known as Wansheng Transformer) has participated in Xinyi Glass Indonesia float glass project, supplying dry-type transformers for the project’s tin bath electric heating system. Focused on the power demand of the float glass forming process, the company delivered equipment configuration and supply coordination services, supporting the development of Xinyi Glass’ overseas production base.

The Xinyi Glass Indonesia float glass manufacturing base is located in Jinpei Economic and Industrial Zone (JIIPE), Gresik Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia, and is developed and operated by Xinyi Glass (Indonesia) Co., Ltd. As Xinyi Glass’ first manufacturing facility in Indonesia, it serves as a core production base for the company’s expansion into the Southeast Asian glass market. In February 2023, China Construction Eighth Bureau Overseas Co., Ltd. officially signed the general contracting contract with the project owner to execute the base construction.

According to the project construction update released by the owner in early 2024, Xinyi Glass Indonesia Industrial Park was established in 2022, covering a total area of approximately 370,000 square meters, with two furnaces planned for the first phase. The project is positioned around high-quality glass products, serving the processing and application demands of automotive, energy-efficient building, home appliance and household sectors, and supplying glass products to both local and overseas customers.

The project site is strategically selected to balance industrial production efficiency and port logistics accessibility. Back in August 2022, Xinyi Glass signed a land purchase agreement with the park authority, and reached consensus on supporting utilities including power supply, water supply, natural gas, sewage treatment and communication systems. Meanwhile, the company signed a memorandum of cooperation on port facilities with the park’s deep-water port operator. The seamless connection between the industrial park and port facilities lays a solid foundation for the construction, production and logistics operation of the glass plant.

On December 18, 2024, the first furnace of Xinyi Glass Indonesia project held its official ignition ceremony. According to the owner’s announcement on the occasion, the ignition marks the official commissioning of the park’s 400,000-ton-per-annum high-quality float glass project. The glass substrates produced by the project cover construction, automotive and new energy application scenarios, and are mainly targeted at the Indonesian and Southeast Asian markets. This milestone transitions the base from the construction phase to full-scale glass production, and marks key progress in Xinyi Glass’ local manufacturing layout optimization.

In the float glass production process, the tin bath is the core section for glass forming, and its electric heating system must be precisely aligned with the production process. Tin bath dry-type transformers undertake the power matching function, delivering tailored power supply for relevant heating loads, and are a critical component of the electrical system in glass production lines.

For this project, Milky Way Transformer leveraged its industry expertise to carry out full-cycle technical alignment work covering transformer configuration, installation interface design and system integration, in response to the application requirements of the tin bath electric heating system. The company also completed specialized equipment packaging and technical documentation handover in accordance with the overseas project delivery schedule. All supporting work is centered on the coordination between transformers and the production line heating system, to ensure smooth equipment delivery and on-site connection.
